The activities of the Committee include discussion of issues relevant to cataloging, classification and related work in making Africana materials in library collections accessible to users, along with action as needed on specific concerns and projects.

 

The Committee also serves as a clearinghouse for reports of cataloging-related groups of other organizations. One ongoing project of the Cataloging Committee is the Africana Subject Authority Funnel Project: http://www.loc.gov/aba/pcc/saco/africanafunnel.html
